Background:
The trend of makeup is changing in Asia. Blemish balm cream (BB cream) was formulated as an after treatment cream for those who underwent laser surgery, claiming can improve skin condition and provide a full coverage just like foundation. This new from of cosmetic product surprise Korean at once. And this trend had came to Hong Kong as two of the leading chain-cosmetic store from Korea, Missa and Skinfood started to promote their BB cream since the starting of this year, with full page advertising on newspapers and huge posters handing outside shops.
However, this new star of cosmetic still cannot replace traditional foundation, as some users have negative effect on this product, saying its oily and made the skin condition even worse.
Angle:
I will focus on whether BB cream can replace traditional foundation, as I seen until now, some people said it is very good and surprising, but others do think traditional foundation is much better, I haven’t decide it yet as I want to listen to some skin expertise before I have a conclusion

Background:
One of China’s folk arts is the papercutting. In the past, papercutting is usually a part of the ritual. They are always used as the decorations for sacrificial offerings to the ancestors and gods. Later, they are mainly used as decoration only. They will be used to decorate the walls, windows, doors, columns, mirrors, lamps and lanterns.
The subject of the papercutting mainly focuses on the natural scenery, myth, insects, or etc. There are several cutting methods, including the overlapping cutting, plain cutting or etc. Some of the papercuttings is also full of colour.
However, one of the artists of papercutting in Guangdong, Hon-yin mentioned that this kind of art is going to decline. She hopes she can find one who can learn her skills and pass the skills to the next generation.
Chinese Arts Papercutting Association is an organization registered in Hong Kong who will hold some competitions, the talks and exhibitions about papercutting. It lets Hong Kong people know more about this kind of art.

Background
The budget speech for the coming 2008-2009 addressed by Financial Secretary John Tsang came out last week. The speech reportedly shows to leave welfare to the people, close attentions are especially paid to the disadvantaged and the needy, for example, in the proposal, it has come up with a number of measures, like to reduce the tax, give a one-off allowance of 3000 to the elderly, showing close attention to the disadvantaged and the needy the society . However, on the other hand, there are also a lot of measures proposed in the speech that a large proportion of money will be spent on many different areas like hotel tax waiving, some large infrastructures investment some business-related and personal income assessment tax reduction, which some experts think it is prone to benefit the rich.

Background:
Conventionally, the word kinesiology (kin-easy-ology) means the study of motion, in particular the study of how muscles act and coordinate to move the body.
But in the natural health field, kinesiology is regarded differently. Here, muscles become monitors of stress and imbalance within the body where the “Muscle Response Technique” is used to detect and correct various imbalances in the body which may relate to stress, allergies, nutrition, learning difficulties, injuries, etc.
Kinesiology combines Eastern medicine philosophies and Western understanding of anatomy and physiology to promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
There are different modalities of Kinesiology.

A Taiwanese photographer suddenly abandoned all he had in Taiwan, moved to Hong Kong following her Hong Kong wife, and started his photography business from zero.
He was an army in Taiwan, which gives him toughness in his characteristics. However, he always wants to bring happiness to others by making jokes. He adopted Hong Kong life very soon and learnt most of the slang.

Background:
Though living in a shopper’s paradise, things bought may not completely satisfy the needs of all customers. Some people visit Ada Mok because the clothes they bought do not fit their body shapes but they don’t want to buy another one. Ada Mok provides tailoring service in Tuen Mun. It is a traditional industry but is now diminishing. Ada Mok’s shop opens from 9:30 am to 2:30 a.m. “The work load is very heavy but I cannot make huge money,” said Ms Mok.
Tailors will change the clothes to a suitable size which best fits the body shape of the customer by using sewing machines. Besides Ada Mok’s shop, there are also some other tailoring shops left in Hong Kong and are usually located in housing estates.

Background:
Though living in a society full of scientific technology, some people nowadays still acquire traditional methods to cure diseases and Qigong which is also known as chi kung is one of them. In most cases, Qigong is a practice consisting of movements and regulated breathing which aims at keeping people healthy. But some forms of Qigong can be treated as therapy which is designed to cure diseases but not just body maintence. Mr Wan is one of the Qigong experts who provides treatment to the patients without being paid. The treatment doesn’t involve medicine or operation but to beat the patient’s body hard with hands or fingers. After receiving treatment from Wan, the bodies of the patients may darken and swell. Though patients describe it as “painful experience” but still they visit Wan regularly. Besides Wan, there are also other Qigong experts who provide similar treatment in Hong Kong.

Background:
The AIMtech of City University of Hong Kong and the Association of Art Therapists have developed a new psychotherapy aid called Smart Ambience Therapy(SAT) which aims to help physically and emotionally abused children. The system can capture the participant’s body motions and gestures and translate them into visual forms and movements. The participant can interact with the environment by wearing a pair of stereoscopic glasses. Such interactive therapy system can help children build up their self-confidence and learn to control their emotion. SAT is recognized internationally. It was awarded a gold medal at the 35th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products in Geneva last year and has become an exhibit in Hong Kong Science Museum starting from 22nd February.
